Video gives you instant feedback! You can learn more in 30 seconds of watching yourself on video (with slow-motion playback) than you can working hours with a coach trying to “explain” what your body is doing. Seeing it with your own eyes is by far the fastest way to make adjustments.
I train athletes all year, and honestly I work with more athletes who DON’T utilize this technology than DO. It’s crazy how easy it is to carry these systems around in your pocket, and so many of you choose to go without. I don’t understand it! At one time, gaining access to a video analysis system would’ve cost you thousands, and now you can download a FREE app (that is user friendly) for your smartphone that will do everything you need.
I use my iPhone to capture video of the athletes I train. They get visual feedback during the entire session… There is no better tool to help a player make adjustments. Below I’ve listed some of the video analysis apps that I’ve found. A few of these apps I’ve used and the rest I’ve not. Some of these apps are FREE and others will cost a few dollars, however the investment is very minimal. All of the apps are simple to use… You’ll just need to figure out which one you like best.
Please leave feedback about the app you like best or share with us any apps I haven’t included (I will add them to the list and link them back to their site). Hopefully together we can help others find an app that’ll work the best for them. Also, if you’re an Android user please leave feedback about any great video analysis app(s) you’ve used on your mobile device.

I want to finish this post by stressing to any player who is NOT using video as a training aid, that you’re missing a great opportunity to help yourself maximize your development. I don’t know if it’s because you’re lazy, stubborn or scared, but Get over it! Technology is NOT going away.
